Stripe carpet has been around for years, but many people still don't realize it. 

It is a new type of carpet, one that offers several benefits and drawbacks compared to pure cotton carpets. For example, in comparison to a pure cotton or nylon carpet, Stripe is thinner. But this thinner fiber also has a tendency to "bleed" if certain weight levels are applied. Many people consider these disadvantages to be simply an added maintenance cost.Another shortcoming of Stripe carpet is that the standard colors are white and black. These are two of the most popular colors found in typical homes, and if you're looking for a very unique and unusual carpet, these are good choices. 

Unfortunately, because of the thinness of the fiber, these colored strips often don't look very appealing when installed in a room. Strips of Stripe carpet often have a wavy appearance, making them look unattractive in most rooms. In addition, the colors can be washed out if heavy traffic is present in the room, as well as changing from white to darker shades over time.Perhaps the most notable shortcoming of Stripe carpet is that it can only be cut to a width that is one-half inch wider than the actual size of the room. The result is an embarrassing product that people will usually avoid. 

These two factors alone make Stripe a very limited option compared to typical carpeting. Although not as common as it once was, this type of carpet may become more common in the future
