More than 20000 confirmed cases in Singapore authorities step up inspection of multiple guest workers residences

Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao reported that preliminary statistics from the Ministry of Health in Singapore showed that on the 6th, 788 new cases of new crowns were confirmed in the country, most of which were guest workers living in dormitories, and 11 were Singapore citizens and permanent residents. In addition, the Ministry of Manpower of Singapore stated that Singapore s inter-agency working group in response to the new crown epidemic of guest workers has stepped up inspection of multiple guest workers ’residences to ensure that guest workers are provided with proper living conditions.

According to the Ministry of Manpower, since April 11, the Interdepartmental Frontier Support Group (FAST) has inspected about 4,000 guest workers residences, including 43 guest worker-specific dormitories, 1300 factory-remodeled dormitories and construction site temporary dormitories, and 2,700 Private residence, found that most residences have compliance measures.

These measures include prohibiting contact between guest workers' on different floors, and allowing guest workers to maintain a safe distance when receiving food and daily necessities.

The Ministry of Manpower also called on guest workers to continue to cooperate with compliance measures, and the inter-agency working group will also continue to cooperate with dormitory operators and residents to ensure proper living conditions.
