Using the same jar or container, press it firmly against the damaged office rug. Use a utility knife to carefully cut along the outline. The diameter of the standard canister is a good guide to the size of the replacement part. The idea is to keep the cutout area as small as possible, but still allow the carpet tape to be inserted into the space and lay flat under the office carpet padding.
